Starting fresh!

It's been so long since I've been on here and hopefully I'll be more faithful in the new year. We had 3 new litters in the end of October and November. We still have 4 left.

We'll start with Buck. He's a fantastic little guy (meaning he'll only be around 12-13 inches mature). He's just plain nice. In more ways than one. His personality is laid back but he's always ready to play or follow me everywhere. He's a scaredy pants though, Travis honked the trucks horn and he just took off running for the safety of the dog house! Can't say I'd blame him with Travis driving a truck!

Dog Show 2011

We attended another dog show this year, trying to earn Prominent Champion on Angel. She was one ribbon short. We also took Wagner and he got superior markings on junior puppy. It was a long day but was fun, hopefully next year I can take a few more dogs. Here's me with Dakota's Toy Wagner with a new friend looking on!

Only one puppy left!!!!

These two puppies love sleeping on pillows! They're spoiled rotten and love it! We've decided to keep Wagner (now named Rascal). So we've only got Charlotte for sale. She's a gorgeous red merle female, with a full collar and great personality. She follows me everywhere on the farm, and loves to come in the house and sleep. Here they are taking a snooze on our pillows, watching tv.

The countdown!!!

We only have 5 puppies left! They're 12 weeks old and need a new forever home. Pepper is still one I would recommend for a family with kids. He loves to play with them and is super good around them. He's so stinkin cute right now too!

The second puppy I'd like to feature is Timber. He's really got unique features. He is so lovable and cuddly. He's got a super even temperament.

Where has the time gone??? We only have 7 puppies left. They are 10 weeks old already and full of life! It's been a rainy spring so far and cold. Although the puppies don't mind one bit! In fact, I thought we were going to have a tornado, so we brought all the puppies in. They all crashed on the back bed! What fun we have!

It's always so exciting when the puppies start to open their eyes. I think it is for them too, now they can see what's all the noise and fuss is about! These puppies ARE definitely acclimated to noise! The kids drive their cars and scream down in the basement and the puppies keep sleeping. I think it drives the mothers nuts (as I can relate)!

Once again Gidget has produced two little peanuts. The other 4 are so much bigger.

We can't figure out if it's December or April. We woke up to 4 inches of beautiful, white snow. Thankfully that's all gone this afternoon. It's been a long winter and it just doesn't want to go away!

The New Puppies have arrived!!!

Angel had her puppies on wednesday, and she had 7 healthy babies. Gracie had her puppies on friday, and she had 5 beautiful black tri's. Gidget had her puppies on saturday, and she had 6 tiny babies. I felt like a nurse walking around in the nursery, with the sound of the dehumidifier and a pup now and then. It was so soothing! Here are just a few pics of Angels babies. Awww! So sweet!

It was a busy week last week, hopefully this week isn't so much. School is also getting closer to the end, and I will be so ready for summer. How about you?

Spring has arrived!!!

We are taking on a new adventure, bottle lambs. So far it's been going pretty good, although I don't care for the early mornings and late nights! Cinch is quite the herdsman. He loves the lambs and will go in with me to feed them and to watch. The lambs like him too until he nips them.

The mamma dogs are sooo ready to have their pups. Hopefully next weekend I can tell of the new litters. Gracie either has a lot of pups or big ones. She waddles when she runs. Most of the time she's too pooped to do that. Angel is getting bigger now, but she's so athletic it takes awhile to see her big belly.

Will post some pics of the lambs with their shepherd and the pregnant mommies!

Half way there!!

As a mother myself, the half way point in pregnancy is such a milestone. All the females have hit their halfway point. They're starting to fill out in the midsection and seem to be more tired. I know that feeling all too well and I'm not even pregnant:) Did I say cranky too? Gidget was picking on Cinch this morning (which is unlike her). Poor Cinch, he just wanted to play.

The days are getting warmer, and the snow is almost gone, is it safe to say spring is coming? Until next time.

PALS!!!

Here's Grover and his pal Bandit. Every morning they greet each other with lots of kisses. Grover is Bandit's big brother. They love to sit on the step and soak in the lovely sunshine!
Bandit and Cinch met Mr. Skunk on Sunday and boy do they stink. The whole yard smelled like skunk, especially the two boys! The girls were smart enough to stay away.

It was really warm last week but now we have a half of inch of ice on everything and it's cold once again. This has got to be the longest winter EVER!!!

Busy week!!

It's been a busy week for our males. All the females came in heat at the same time. The guys are ecstatic, haven't seen this much action for almost a year!! So hopefully in a couple months we can show some baby pictures!

On another note, this week has been brutally cold. This morning was -30 degrees and our roads are quite icy. Things are looking up though, this weekend is supposed to be in the 40's!! Yeah! Thought I would put up some cool pics of better weather.Isn't it serene?

We attended the Dakota Pet Breeders conference last weekend and learned a lot. Especially on tooth care. Are you brushing your dogs teeth? At least you should be examining their teeth and gums. If you suspect some tooth pain or something else, make sure you take them to your vet. A lot of dogs have tartar build up and giving your pets something to chew on (like a raw hide, bones or hooves) really helps. They also had a gal come in and talk about therapy dog training. It was very interesting and we had a great time and won some prizes.

Nicknames!!!

When I was walking, I just thought it was funny on how we have to nickname all our dogs. I'm sure everyone has a funny nickname for something, but to do it to all your dogs too?? Let's start with Gidget. We always kid on how she looks like a polar bear, but we call her Pidget, Gidgie poo, Pidge. Now for Angel, she doesn't have as many, but we call her Ange, and that's all I can think of. Cinch we call Pinch, Cinchy Pinchy, and Cinchy poo. Gracie is Gracie Gracie, Tracy (we're really original!). Last, but not least is Bandit. Bandit is referred to as Bandy, and Bandy Bopper.

On another note, sounds like everyone is getting hit by this pesky storm. For two days now, we've had snow and blowing snow. Icy roads, and my poor husband has to drive truck in it. I sit at home with the kids and worry. Hopefully by next week it's better. This weekend we're attending the Dakota Pet Breeders conference. Hopefully we'll learn something fun and interesting!

This cold weather is getting tiresome. The cattle water is always froze in the mornings, so I get my exercise walking back and forth with hot water. Bandit is sure to keep the cattle away from me. He heels 650 pounds of steer, they seem to really respect him and he's only 14 pounds!! I went for a moonlight walk and the dogs loved it, it was a little chilly but invigorating. When I take all the dogs I'm not afraid of running into any coyotes! It's hard to believe January is almost done, but I'm so ready for spring. These negative temps are for the Canadians! I was tempted to ride along on the airplane to Florida with my last puppies!

Winter Wonderland!

It sure is beautiful with all the white, fluffy snow, but cold! Brrrr!! Travis and I were up at 6:00 a.m., the roads were all drifted shut and we had to get a big semi on the yard. I opened the door to let out the dogs and they look at the snow and lay back down. Having to go the bathroom wasn't that important! But amazingly they love the snow, Angel will tuck in her butt and run like crazy. Bandit loves it too and will stay out as long as possible. So far we've had two snow days from school, so looks like no spring break, I really didn't want to drive them to school anyway!

Interesting Days!!

I really should be surprised at nothing, yet I almost had a heart attack last night. I looked out our entryway door and saw a dog, but it wasn't any of ours. It was a coyote! He was at most 5 feet from our garage! I opened the door and yelled and he stared at me then trotted off! I think he was going for one of our cats on the front step.

On another note, we have another winter storm baring down on us. Supposed to start today.

It's so quiet in the house without our 2 puppies romping around and howling. The kids don't know what to do either. Just thought I'd put up a couple of pics to keep it interesting. Here's our beautiful Bandit enjoying the sunshine.

Here's my sisters dog, Brutus, we're babysitting while their on vacation! He's a big guy, hence the name Brutus or Brute.

This week we sold Sandy to a wonderful, and loving family. She will be greatly missed by us and especially her brother(Bandit). And our two young cuties are going to a loving home in Florida. What will I do with all my time:) The adults always require much attention, especially when I'm trying to put on my snowboots. There's tongues flying and feet everywhere on me!! When I was taking these pics I put my foot in something warm, thankfully only a wet spot! I'm used to that with five kids, although it's still a surprise. There's just something about a child and a puppy, they just seem to go together. Maybe, it's because they act like one another???

Thanksgiving 2010

We had freezing rain the morning we left for my parents ranch. Only 2 hours in and we were driving on black ice:( Thankfully we drove out of that, and the rest of the time ( 5 hours to be exact ) was smooth sailing! Here's a couple pics of our family. Here we are standing in front of the shack my grandparents lived in the 1900's. Today it's being used for a chicken house.Here we are standing in front of my dad's percheron team. He still uses them to feed hay to their range cows. They had enough snow so we used the sleigh! What fun it was and it brought back many memories for me growing up!

Feels like Winter:(

It is freeezing outside:( Not happy about that at all. The toy and mine aussies don't seem to mind it though. They run around like it's 60 degrees outside! I had to haul 5 gal. buckets full of water to the calves. Left the hose out without draining= a frozen hose:( At least I have running water and don't have to pump it out!

The new puppies are really growing. They are eating food now, and love it. Once in awhile the kids startle them and they let out a bark, it's too cute! We took Christmas pics of them last week so I'll put some of those up this time.

We're leaving for western SD for Thanksgiving, so hopefully the weather isn't too bad. Hope everyone has a thankful Thanksgiving! Boyd holding Remi (as we nicknamed him)Here's Remington or Remi, looing so handsome!

Summer is officially over!!!

It's getting a might chillier out there. The days are getting shorter and the holidays are upon us. Our new little toy/mini aussies will make a perfect Christmas gift. As they gaze into your eyes, your heart fills with love. They're just too cute!

I've decided just to make a page for Bandit, and Sandy on the website, as adults for sale. They both are almost 9 months old, and getting close to breeding age. They would still make an awesome pet or would be great for a breeder. They have the neatest personalities. Here are a couple pics, the first is of Sandy looking far into the distance.

New Puppies!!

Our cute, adorable puppies are 2 weeks old already. They both have their eyes open now and love to be held. Gracie anxiously watches, especially if one of the kids take them:) She knows they need to be watched! The first is her toy/mini red tri male, Remington. The second puppy, a mini/toy blue merle male, Rodeo.

We've had a gorgeous fall so far, today is going to be in the 60's. We're very spoiled, last year at this time we had snow!

Tough go of it

We've been having computer problems for over a week and I'm happy to announce we have our computer back. I felt lost without it, yet I got so much done in the house and yard:) I sometimes feel that way about Sandy. She's had a tough go of it too. We've had two different families, who were really interested and came to meet her but didn't take her. She's really aloof to strangers and just stands still, like she doesn't quite know what to do. She's such a sweetheart and it just takes her a little while to warm up. Maybe the third time will be the charm. So I thought I would devote this blog to her and our sickly computer.

HAVING FUN!!!!

We love to take the dogs for walks in the evenings. That particular evening we walked through the bean field but along the way we have to cross a small creek running through our property. The puppies love to run through it and get all dirty! That evening they did just that and then we walked through the harvested bean field. Needless to say there were a few piles of bean stalks left from the combine and the toy aussies ran through it and got all dirty!Bandit and Sandy having fun romping through the bean piles!

Two's trouble!!

Here's trouble!! They seem to feed off each other, when one races off the other is sure to follow! Sandy will grab Bandits hair and just pull till he rolls. It's quite amusing to watch. They look a lot like twins, and sometimes it's hard to tell who's who.

Flooding

I had to put some pictures up of the flood last week, we got 6 0r 7 inches of rain and upstream got 10 inches. This train bridge, which is 3 miles from our home had the water going over it.

Busy week!!

Last week was so busy and this week doesn't look any better. We sold both Robin and Lucy last week and now sold Olive. Fall is right around the corner, the nights have been cool and the days are still warm. I love fall (except the pesky flies). Just thought I would share some photos of the puppies leaving us. I just wanted to do a little write up about Bandit. He hasn't gotten too many inquiries lately. He is a gorgeous little boy, who's full of energy!! He loves cats and loves to bark at them. He always follows me around the yard and runs up to you for a hug! At the APRI show he did fantastic! He got a white ribbon, his first leg for a championship. He will not be able to get the other two legs until he is a year old. He curled up on my lap the whole day at the show and enjoyed all the attention he received. This guy has it all, he will definitely be a toy at around 12inches. He also has the gene for blue eyes in a black tri that is hard to come by. He loves to be in the house and gets along with all the other dogs and puppies.

Clifford our red bi came back to us. It didn't work out with my parents (didn't have enough time for him). He's for sale for $200. He is super nice, loves kids and loves to go for walks and rides in the car.

The Dog Show!!!

We went to the APRI dog show on saturday and did sooo good!! Bandit got a white ribbon, his first leg onto championship. Angel did fantastic and I showed her in three shows and she got her championship!! She also got top dog in the second show. Our picture will be featured along with the two other top dogs in a magazine. It was such a great experience for me and especially the dogs. They behaved so well since it was their first time ever! I don't have any official pictures yet, so will have to update next time with pictures. Here is an unofficial picture of the two winners together!

Hot, sticky summer

Our Trip

It's been a long time since I've written. Last week we went on vacation to my parents(which are located in western SD). We only took Grover and Gidget along with the kids(that's about all our van can hold!) We had a great time and there's nothing like riding horse on the wide open spaces. We took a few pictures of the kids by an old farm place and they enjoyed riding in the combine watching the wheat harvest.

I haven't wrote much lately and I have no excuses:) The puppies are getting so big and so are their personalities. We love to go for walks even though it looks chaotic!

Olive has had so much fun with a glove I mowed over, it's hilarious. She's so proud of it and loves to show it off, then she shakes it so hard the stuffing flies everywhere! (I'm easily amused). Robin (or Robbie as I call him) follows me everywhere wagging his little tail hoping for a little milk when I feed our bottle calves. Then there's Lucy playing queen of the hill on top of a gravel pile, then she runs down it and digs like crazy! Sandy and Bandit are always getting into mischief together. Buddies

We're saying good-bye to Jack tomorrow. He's sold to Robin in Colorado. He will be greatly missed by us and his buddy Olive. It's kind of funny because we had two puppies left of each litter and they would only romp around with their litter mate. Olive would make an excellent companion, she's very devoted and loves to follow, she's still for sale. Looking attentively at something new.

Toy Aussies

The days seem to be flying by and the puppies are 4 months old ( 4 of them). Jack is my devoted follower, he goes wherever I go and jumps on my lap for some kisses. He and Olive are buddies. Just like Bandit and Sandy are too. Bandit always has to bark at the cats and gets into a lot of mischief. Whereas Sandy expects attention (just like her mother) and adores you. Robin and Lucy are almost 3 months old. Lucy reminds me of Peanuts (her looks and she will be a small toy). Robin is just a big fur ball and has a great personality.

Angel takes all the puppies to our little creek for a run through the water, on these warm summer days. It's so fun to watch them play follow the leader!

It will be an interesting day, have to take the 5 older dogs to the vet to get their rabies shots, not to mention the 5 children. Our computer became infected with a virus that pretty much shut it down! Just got it back from the repair shop and it appears healthy. A quick update, Patches and Panda are going to a new home in Florida. They are going to a family that is going to be perfect for them and they get to stay together!! They get to fly together which makes it a little easier to see them go. Tomorrow we go to Watertown, SD. Four of the pups get to go with us and do some traveling. We are meeting Tara, who wants to choose either Sandy, Jack, Pookie, or Clifford. (its going to be a tough decision! ). Tara chose Pookie!!! It was a tough decision, but she chose Pookie and when we left he was right at home with them taking a nap. He now resides near Bismark, ND.

Time seems likes it's flying away, I don't seem to get much done during the day. My kids go from room to room making disasters. It's like following a tornado! Then the puppies get involved. Except they're quiet, so you can't tell where they are. We said good-bye to Little Princess on Thursday. She went to live with the Bingers by Tulare SD. She will be greatly missed but went to a loving family. Here she is sleeping in the playpen before we left.

Sandy is such a gorgeous black tri toy aussie. She's going to be a little thing. She needs to find a loving family to call her own!

Olive is another gorgeous red merle small mini aussie. She also needs to find a loving family. I can't say enough about all of these puppies, they are so loyal and such great companions. They seem to know when somethings wrong and look at you with such loving eyes.

wow!!! I never thought the wind could blow for so long and so hard. Dust everywhere and to top it off, its suffocatingly humid. I wanted to download some videos of the pups, but for some reason, they refuse to upload. I guess I'll have to settle for pics. Gracies pups are the most funniest age, they are just little balls of fur, and are comical to watch run around. The older pups are growing very well and developing some neat traits and characteristics. They get to ride with us to town and they get a lot of attention from people. They are just beautiful pups!!

Busy weekend and Monday

This weekend was a very busy one. It seems as the days get longer the more work there is to get done. We took a little break on Saturday. In the morning, we had eggs to deliver to Hull and swimming lessons to sign up for in Rock Valley. Patches was the lucky one and got to go along. At the park, he fell asleep when a couple kids petted him and it was comical when he woke up and looked around to see where they had gone. Later that day, Jack and Pookie went along with us to a odd and unusual sale up in Minnesota. These guys loved it and had lots to tell thier siblings when we got back.

Tomorrow will be a sad day for us. Our little buddy, Batman, is leaving us to take a flight to Florida. We had a busy week last week. Jack (for sale for $650) and Patches(for sale for $600) rode along in the pickup to the salebarn. They snuggled right in and enjoyed the ride! On Friday Jack went with us to garage sales. He was adored by many and made many friends. He was such a good boy!

Travis took Clifford (for sale for $400) for a ride too and he thoroughly enjoyed it and posed so nice for the picture.

Peirce and his mini aussie pups

Peirce is holding two mini aussie puppies. Jack (who is for sale @ $750.00) and Batman (who is for sale @ $800.00) Jack is the red merle and loves to sit on your lap. Batman is a blue merle and loves to run. Both have startling blue eyes.

Cinch, looking wise making sure the "flock" is behaving.

Today, we took the pups out for their daily run and play. We are beginning to notice the different personalities of our pups. Clifford is a jovial fella, leads but doesn't have to. He is very tolerant of our kids picking him up and lugging him around, actually enjoys it even if it is uncomfortable. Batman and Jack are pals, co leaders of the group, if something new comes around they are the first to it. Batman is more adventurous, goes of on his own but always keeps an eye on his people. Jack alway stays a little closer and comes and makes sure we are watching him. Patches is more into playing, likes to roll his sisters and brothers around for a tussle. He and Olive always come up to you and roll over for a belly rub. Olive is a sensitive little girl, eager to please and very in tune to what you are feeling. Then there is Little Princess, the little toy. She is so petite, she is going to be a tiny little dog, one who wants to sit on your lap, making sure she gets the attention she deserves.

Gidget's little aussies are not far behind in development and there is something about everyone of these aussies that makes you say "oh this one is my favorite", but then you see the next one and pretty soon you have two favs, and then three, then four, and on and on.

It was a windy, windy, day in South Dakota but warm. Even the aussie pups didn't run around as much as usual. In this video Bandit is showing lots of love to his brother Peanuts. These puppies just love to play with one another and are such a joy to watch!

It's a wet spring day. Travis and the kids bathed the three aussie pups, just for the video. There fur gets so fluffy when cleaned. Clifford, Jack and Batman had a lot of fun in the house. They vacuumed my floors and chewed on toys and played a lot with each other. They each have such a personality. Batman is all go and will follow you everywhere. Jack is more laid back and loves tummy rubs. Clifford likes to do his own thing but likes lots of attention. Hope you enjoy the video!

Emily and Reid are enjoying these adorable aussie pups. It is so much fun watching Little Princess romp with Jack and the other pups being affectionate with their mother. One thing about puppies, something is always happening, but quite often they disappeared from my camera. One minute playing the next they're sound asleep. I spent 10 minutes rubbing Olive's and Little Princess's belly. It put Little Princess right to sleep. One could spend hours watching them, but unfortunately my dishes aren't getting done.

today we took updated pictures of angel and gidget puppies. We looked at our pics after we took them, funny thing was a lot of the pictures had just a empty wagon (see below). There was supposed to be a puppy in the wagon!!!

Mariposa's big day

Today mariposa took trip and is now with her new family. She is going to live up near Minneapolis. Here is her picture with the rest of the family. She is little dear and they will have a great life. She will be right at home with them, a member of the family.

Also there are some girls from Conneticut that are waiting very patiently for the day Peanuts can go to be with them. Meanwhile, we have a video for them to see how energetic and fun the little guy is. So, here you go girls, here is Peanuts.

Late last nite and early this morning, Gracie had 3 little Aussies. 1 boy, 2 girls, 3 blue merles . She is a very sweet mom and is doing great. She declined to have her photograph taken and posted to our blog, (you know how mothers hate to have thier pictures taken after giving birth) but we will put up pics and some video in the near future.so check back.

This video is of Panda with our daughter. You should notice the piercing blue eyes of this little guy as he looks at you. Also, he has what is called a ranch coat with shorter hair, which will help you to keep his coat clean and glowing with health. He also has spectacular copper highlights around his eyes and on his legs that really will catch the eye of passersby as you go for your walk with him or take him for a ride.

this video ( if it loads) will be all about Clifford. He is sure to be a mini aussie and is the biggest of the litter. He displays a lot of the classic signs of affection that aussies display with his tail wagging, bouncing up to you with his body curved, licking your face with his little puppy tongue.

I'm assuming that this will be successful, so I will write a little more while waiting for the video to upload. Since we've been keeping everyone up to date on the weather, today was just outright blustery. The winds are still howling outside at about 25 to 30 mph. (10 at nite) We kept the young aussies in and the parents did not seem to want to be outside either. It also was about 80 degrees outside. One of the downsides of early spring in the upper plain states. (the wind)

We sat out and took pictures in the crisp, clear spring air. It doesn't work real well with 7 aussie pups jumping all over you! Boyd tried to get in the mix but the puppies went everywhere. They really want their mothers attention but she won't have it. They are fully weaned now and eat dog food. Angel's pups are 7 weeks old today. Time to find their forever home. It's spring here in South Dakota when you here the meadowlarks singing! We've been taking the puppies outside everyday to play with the kids and to enjoy the sunshine. When we bring them back in the mini aussies are exhausted and falling asleep before they get in the house! Took a few pictures to show how much they've grown.

Spring is here and with that the winds, although the weekend was very nice. Today the wind is blowing at 20 to 25, gusts to 30 and it is warm. The gals and Cinch are not liking the wind and the heat, they still got winter coats. Puppies are getting better looking every day and more and more playful. The kids and them were racing around the basement this morning, and i don't know who was louder the aussies or the kids. Clifford is a friendly fella and wags his tail when he comes running up. Yesterday we took Angel's kids outside for a run and a new adventure. They loved it. Gracie just loved them and wanted to let them nurse to lick them. She will make a great mother . Grover tolerated them but seemed to think maybe we are getting to many canines around. ( he' our black lab)

Well spring is just flying in and very enjoyable! The puppies are becoming charming little individuals and becoming more independent. Their mothers are spending more time away and the little aussies really are fun to watch play with each other. Since Angel's kids are the first babies we raised, we are thrilled at watching how they grow from the first whine to the first bark, tail wagging, and all the developments they make. We got to figgure out how to upload pictures to the blog so that you can watch them grow. but for now check out dakotatoyaussies.com and we should have updated pics tommorrow. Snow!!! We had 2 inches of snow early this morning and the temperature was 31 degrees. Yesterday it was 52 degrees, only in the Dakotas does this happen! Tomorrow I have to get new pictures of the mini aussies on our website. The mini aussies have changed so much since the last pictures. All of Gidgets have their eyes open and they move around so much more. I heard lots of noise in the basement so went and checked. All of Angels puppies were looking over the edge of their box and barking and whining at her. They act just like kids!

The sun is shining and no wind, it's absolutely gorgeous outside!.. The kids are running around and the dogs are right behind them. It's a good day to do something outside. I hung clothes on the clothesline for the first time since November. The mini aussie pups are enjoying the sunshine too. I have them in a basket on the couch soaking up the sunshine. Pretty soon the mini aussie pups will be running around too.

The sun hasn't shone for about 4 weeks. It's partly sunny today and about 5o degrees. Most of the snow is about gone except for the six foot drift in my garden. The mini aussies are really growing, they really look like miniature dogs instead of guineas!! The mamas like to be away from them more now, so the puppies have to entertain themselves. Even the tiniest toy is moving around instead of sleeping. All the dogs are sunning themselves now. The geese are flying overhead and the rivers are flooding, it's spring here in the Dakotas.

All the surrounding rivers are flooding. We are thankful we live on a hill top. The toy mini aussies are growing by leaps and bounds. They're so fun to watch! They wrestle and bark at each other and romp around, when the aussies aren't being played with. Today Emily had Clifford( the big red one) wrapped up in a pink blanket(he's a boy) and was playing her baby! So cute! The oldest mini aussies are 4 weeks old.

Ever since Gidget had puppies, Angel secretly wants them! She walks over to Gidget's box and growls at Gidget and is so attentive when the toy mini aussies make noise. Gidget growls right back!! It actually didn't rain today but the yard looks like a war zone with mud puddles everywhere. We've been getting a lot of fog too. Last night it was so thick I couldn't see 50 feet in front of me. Hopefully the sun comes out soon!!

An interesting Day

What a day! It has been raining all week and the snow is melting=a mess! We had a gravel truck come this afternoon so we could get a feed truck to our cattle but he took a corner to short and got stuck. I pulled him out with the tractor and he left. Shortly after the feed truck got stuck and I could not pull him out so he had to unload then the neighbor came over and pulled him out. The same driver took out our electrical line and everyone else's 1/2 mile down the road! Life is always interesting on a farm.

I started plants today for our garden this summer. We want to sell to the Farmers Market this year so hopefully they grow! Anyway, I have my plant lights set up downstairs and while I was messing around with that, the mini aussie puppies started barking! It was so cute! They're starting to play with each other by wrestling, growling and now barking! Gidget's puppies are growing so fast but they still sleep a lot.

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

It's been busy raining the last couple of days. Uncovering the grass, which is starting to grow, just like the little aussie puppies! How can they be so cute? I enjoy weighing them and just holding them. The kids are starting to name them and the names somehow match their personalities. The biggest red/white mini aussie they named Clifford. The black tri Emily named Mariposa. The toy red tri we named little princess. We named one red merle Patches and the rest need to be named. All the dogs need baths, it's so muddy out there but that comes with spring!

It's another cloudy day but the snow is melting. I weighed the toy aussie pup (possibly a tea-cup size) and he only weighs 7.9 oz at one week old. His tummy is always full but he is so tiny! The mini aussie pups love the attention of the kids, two of them sat on Emily's and Peirce's laps for an hour! Can you believe it? (That the kids sat that long!) Travis is making progress on the dog house. Two walls are up with the windows and door already in. Can't wait for it to be done!

Well we've been waiting for spring and its here! Its upper 30's and raining and its terribly muddy outside. The puppies continues to grow well and even Gigdets littlest one (born at 6 oz) is gaining and doing well. While I'm writing this I hear the oldest kid of ours, Grover, a beautiful black lab/blue heeler, is barking outside. I think he wants to make sure he gets a mention once, too. He's been good to the new Aussies and they love him, except maybe for Cinch. ( alittle male competition, although Grover is neutered). He is seven years old, and in great health. His coat is so black and shiny it is almost purple. Grover is a great kids dog, our kids ride him like a horse and sometime gets alittle rough with him, and to date I have never seem him snap at them or even growl at them. All the aussies are enjoying the bright sunshine. I wish I could just sleep in the sunshine all day! The toy and mini aussie pups are getting quite the personalities. The biggest red pup is such a big baby. He doesn't like to be alone and will quiet down if one of the kids holds him. The little toy red aussie is so sweet and loves to be held. Our girls loove the puppies and carry them around like babies. Today our oldest girl took Angel's biggest aussie puppy and went to her bedroom. They were playing house with the toy aussie. I heard her come down the stairs in disgust. She said you were right mom we shouldn't take those puppies. Why I said and here comes her sister and said "He pooped on my burper!! I started laughing and she said "It's not funny, he hurt my feelings!" And this is only the beginning.....

Gidget is a mom!

Early sunday morning, Gidget had a litter of pups and are they ever adorable. She had 5 pups, three who look like her and two blue merles wh0 look like thier pa, Cinch. She and Angel are very good mothers and the pups are doing excellent. Angel's pups eyes are opening, I think there are 3 whose are open and the rest are close to opening. Another day that reminds us that spring is around the corner and it will be soon that robins will show up. It was sunny and the snow is amelting.

We've got exciting news!! The pups eyes are starting to open, the black tri female's are just about all the way open. Gidget is starting to nest, so maybe tommorrow we will have more little aussie pups. I think she is anxious to have the pups too. When she climbs on the sofa she can't make it by herself and I have to lift her on, the pups are getting so big in her. Beautiful sunshine today, too, although it still is cool (mid to upper 20's). We also got our scale to track pups development and weighed them today. The red bi color male is a brute at 1 lbs 10.8 oz., while his red tri sister is petite 12.7 oz. (maybe a toy aussie, we hope). A Busy Day

Had an interesting afternoon. I could hear the puppies crying and only 2 puppies were in their nest. I followed the crying and found 2 more at the bottom of the stairs, Angel led me too them. So I put them back, but where are the other three??? I asked the kids what they did with them, Peirce said Reid had them. So I looked some more and found Reid's boot box, it was warm, that's odd. I opened it up and there the other 3 were perfectly lined up and sleeping soundly!! Angel was happy to have all her aussie pups back!

Another cold morning in late Feb. Today was minus 11 but things are looking up for the weekend. We may even see some thawing weather.
We are still waiting for Angel's little aussie pups to open thier eyes. Angel is a great mother and is doing a great job raising her little guys and gals. We got pictures of the pups on our website this week so take a look at them!!
